REDDIT is currently considering bringing back cryptocurrency payments including Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin.
Chief Technology Officer for Reddit, Chris Slowe, explained in an interview, that due to high fees and lack of time to update the Coinbase API integration to accept BTC payments, the company removed the option.
However, Reddit seems to be looking into other virtual currency’s as well as Bitcoin to offer as payment to its users.
“We’ve been looking at other cryptocurrencies,” said Slowe. “As a matter of fact, that was part of the issue with the high fees on the bitcoin network. We are looking at ethereum and litecoin that are both provided by Coinbase.”
This news fits hand in hand with comments made by Alexis Ohanian, Reddit’s co-founder, he believes that Ethereum will outpace Bitcoin in terms of gains by the end of 2018.
Ohanian said: “i’m bullish about ethereum simply because people are actually building on it.”
Ohanian also believes that Bitcoin will reach $20,000 and Ethereum will be worth $15,000.
