Korean Peace Agreement Recorded on Ethereum Blockchain

Panmunjom Declaration for Peace Made Into Permanent Record on Ethereum Blockchain

In an unprecedented event in over 60 years, South Korea and North Korea have decided to form a peace agreement to ease tensions on the Korean Peninsula. Both North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and South Korean leader Moon Jae-in have come together to form the Panmunjom Declaration for Peace, Prosperity and Unification of the Korean Peninsula.

The Declaration calls for a new era in the two Korean nations by developing a peaceful relationship and sharing a commitment to ending the Korean War. This agreement will help end divisions and encourage confrontation between the neighboring nations.

The announcement between two leaders was so inspiring that a South Korean developer took it upon himself to record the Panmunjom Declaration using transactions on the Ethereum blockchain network.

According to CoinDesk, the South Korea developer had this to say:

“Although I was not interested in politics, I was overwhelmed by watching the summit. I just thought it was too long for the South and the North to give each other one step and listen to each other,” Ryu told the publication, according to a rough translation. “After finding out what I could do as a developer, I found the Panmunjom Declaration from the Blue House homepage and recorded it on the Ethereum blockchain.”

Ethereum block 551,7596 is now not only another transaction among millions but is seen as a historical political document that records this moment in history.

This is what the message on the network says:

“During this year that marks the 65th anniversary of the Armistice, South and North Korea agreed to actively pursue trilateral meetings involving the two Koreas and the United States, or quadrilateral meetings involving the two Koreas, the United States and China with a view to declaring an end to the war and establishing a permanent and solid peace regime.”
