Coinbase Exploring Cardano BAT Stellar Lumens Zcash & 0x

Coinbase has announced that they will be exploring the addition of five new cryptocurrencies.

Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has made an announcement that it is exploring adding several cryptocurrencies to the exchange.

At present the exchange, which has its headquarters in San Francisco, offers Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum and Litecoin.

The latest news comes just a few weeks after the announcement that they will be adding Ethereum Classic. The coins that they are seeking to add to their exchange are as follows:

  • Cardano (ADA)
  • Basic Attention Token (BAT)
  • Stellar Lumens (XLM)
  • Zcash (ZEC)
  • 0x (ZRX)

In a blog post and on social media they pointed out there intention to introduce these coins to as many jurisdictions as possible. The decision to release this information to the public and internal staff was made specifically to increase transparency.

Coinbase then updated their information to reveal that it does not, however, guarantee these assets will be going on the Coinbase exchange, stating that there are some technical barriers that need to be overcome before the coins can go live

Coinbase states: “Unlike the ongoing process of adding Ethereum Classic, which is technically very similar to Ethereum, these assets will require additional exploratory work and we cannot guarantee they will be listed for trading”

Furthermore due to these complications some assets may only be listed for customers to buy and sell but they will not be available to send or receive.

Going forward there is no exact date for when the aforementioned coins will be added, updates are expected via there blog or twitter.

Coinbase did finish on the hope to continue adding a larger variety of assets overall to its exchange.

Coinbase states “you should expect that we will make similar announcements about exploring the addition of multiple assets”.

Within an hour of the initial announcement, the cryptocurrencies saw huge leaps in value. 0x (ZRX) jumped by over 25%.

So keep your eyes peeled as your favorite coin might just be added to one of the largest retail exchanges.
